Think Like the Banned
“Think Like the Banned” is a new “Read and Respond” program through which teens read Children’s Picture Books that have been frequently challenged and/or banned in the United States, and then answer Critical Thinking Questions to analyze these titles and why they are particular targets for censorship. The published responses give the teens writing them with an opportunity to reflect on the experiences of others through the lens of fiction, and provide their peers with insight into the books, perhaps encouraging them to read the novels as well. If you would like to participate, check out the instructions here: “Think Like the Banned (for Grades 7-12)
