Battle of the Books

Open to rising 6-9^th graders!

Are you interested in participating in a Suffolk County-wide book-based competition?  Join the Battle of the Books!  The Suffolk County Battle of the Books is an inter-library book trivia competition, focusing on six young adult novels. Libraries across the island build teams, hold practice meetings and mini competitions through the summer, and then meet to “battle it out” in August.  Winning teams earn trophies and medals.

There are Introduction to Battle of the Books programs on Friday June 5th from 6:30-7:30pm or Wednesday June 17th from 5:00-6:00pm. If you would like to attend and learn more, please register here, by date: https://emmaclark.librarycalendar.com/events/month?age_groups%5B3%5D=3

Practices will be held on Tuesdays from June 23^rd to August 4^th, from 6-7:30pm.  Registration is open: https://emmaclark.librarycalendar.com/event/battle-books-52249

Additional important dates are:

-Mon August 3^rd, 6:00-7:30pm: Mock Battle at Comsewogue Public Library in Port Jefferson Station

-Fri August 7^th, 5:00-9:00pm: Final Suffolk County-Wide Battle at the Hyatt Regency in Hauppauge

-Tues Aug 11^th, 6:00-7:00pm: Post-Battle Pizza Party at the Emma Clark Library

Join Our Teen/Tween Book & Movie Club!

Was the Book Better?

You’ve heard it said many times before, “The book was better than the movie!” But was it really?  Read the book to find out, then join us for Book and Movie Club!  In addition to a lively discussion of the chosen book, teens will participate in themed snacks, a raffle, and watch a movie adaption together, and then discuss their opinion on the differences!
