Safe Driving: Field Trip to Safety Town – Thursday July 10th, 5:00-7:30pm

Are you already driving, or getting ready to get on the roads soon? Take a trip to Safety Town with the Library! Brookhaven’s Safety Town is a replica of a miniature village with an indoor educational facility. Program participants will receive classroom instruction on traffic safety, followed by hands-on experiences using miniature electric vehicles, driving through Safety Town first without any impediments, then with various distractions such as “drunk goggles,” and “texting tests.” Parents play an integral part in this program, and must remain with their teens for the duration of the program. Teens & Tweens Dept Staff will be in attendance to assist as needed.  Safety Town Requirement: Teen must be 15 years old or older to attend this program.

Money Decision for Teens: Becoming an Accidental Millionaire with the Power of Compounding Interest – Thursday July 17th, 6:00-7:00pm

In this fun and eye-opening workshop, teens will learn how a few smart money decisions—plus the power of compounding interest—can turn small amounts into serious savings over time. It’s not about being rich today—it’s about learning the choices that pay off big later. We will break down the “magic” of compound interest growth with interactive activities and a little millionaire math that will change the way you think about money. Taught by Donna Cirillo, financial literacy education advocate and member of the National Financial Educators Council.

Money Decisions for Teens: Intro to Budgeting – Saturday July 26th, 11:00am-12:00pm

Money is more than numbers — it’s making smart decisions about what matters most to you. In this interactive workshop, teens will explore how their personal values shape their financial choices and ultimately their budget. Perfect for teens who want to build smart money habits early! Taught by Donna Cirillo, financial literacy education advocate and member of the National Financial Educators Council.

Money Decision for Teens: Big Spending Decisions: Car Buying – Wednesday August 13th, 6:00-7:00pm

Thinking about buying your first car or want to be ready when the time comes? Buying a car isn’t just about picking the coolest ride – it’s about understanding the hidden costs of ownership and avoiding common mistakes. In this session, we will set you up for success with smart money moves so you will have no buyer’s remorse when you make your first big spending decision.
